Route 1 release 4.1
for Microsoft Windows 3.1
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Welcome to Route 1, the premier shell for Windows. Route 1 is a button bar to
provide fast access to applications, display information, and to automate
repetitive tasks. Route 1 sports two clocks, a memory display, eyes that
follow the cursor, SubMenus, a full script language and interpreter, drag-
drop support, sound, event scheduling, and much more.
Here are some brief instructions to get you started. There is a help file
included with Route 1 that explains all of its features, and how to use them.
I strongly recommend looking over the help file, so that you can take full
advantage of Route 1. Veteran users please look at "What's new". It explains
how to access SubMenus, create scripts, and contains useful hints, suggestions
and shortcuts. Help is accessible through Route1 by pressing [?] in any menu,
dialog box, or Route 1 window.
TO INSTALL ROUTE 1:
Select "Run..." from Program Manager's File menu, (or your current
shell) and type:
d: install
where d: is the disk drive containing the Route1 installation files.
note: if INSTALL.EXE fails, open a DOS window, swich to the drive and
directory with the Route 1 distribution, and type "ALTSETUP.BAT."
IF YOU ARE A PREVIOUS USER OF ROUTE 1:
Version 1.x - your Route1.INI is NOT compatible with version 4.1.
Version 2.x or greater - your Route1.INI IS compatible with version 4.1,
and the install machine will ask you before
overwriting it.
Note: Make sure that an old copy of Route 1 is not open when you run
the installation program. For best results, delete all of the old Route 1
files, except for any configuration (INI) files, icons and scripts you may
have created and wish to keep.
I hope you enjoy and use Route 1.
